Director of Grant Development

The Director of Grant Development is a senior leadership role that oversees the business of research at our institute. This includes developing, reviewing and implementing strategic initiatives to drive organisational strategy.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and management of research grants operations, including pre-award processes.
  • Provide high-level input into organisational strategy, including strategic initiatives and collaborative agreements.
  • Develop and implement institute-wide strategies for major research funding, ensuring alignment with the institute's goals and scientific capability frameworks.
  • Analyse and model research income trends, block grant funding, and performance benchmarks against comparable institutions.

Key Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in peer reviewed grants and research governance, preferably within a medical research institute, hospital or university environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of funding organisations, including national and internal grant schemes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; ability to provide advice to support executive decision-making and institutional strategic priorities.

  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and presentation skills (written and verbal).
