About the role
Bathurst Regional Council has an exciting career development opportunity within the Development Assessment Team. Council is currently seeking a full time Development Control Planner - Cadet within the Environmental, Planning & Building Department. Candidates should be enrolled or eligible for enrolment in tertiary qualifications leading to a Degree in Town Planning. Council will be responsible for tuition costs. A current Class C motor vehicle driver's licence is required.
Dependent on qualifications and experience a commencing salary of $1,190.10 per week with further progression negotiated with the successful applicant. This is based on 35 hours per week with an RDO every three weeks.
This position will commence providing administrative support to the planning functions of Council before progressing into the role of Development Control Planner predominately responsible for assessing Development Applications and providing advice to the public on planning related matters.
Key Requirements
Eligible and willing to enrol and undertake tertiary study leading to qualifications as a town planner.
A current Class C Driver's Licence.
Customer service skills.
Administrative skills - e.g. data entry, record keeping, touch typing, preparation of correspondence.
Proficiency in the operation of various computer packages including a well-developed understanding of Microsoft office programs, Adobe and internet and intranet-based data administration applications and records management systems.
Experience in updating/maintaining databases and registers.
Developing verbal and written communication skills, including report writing skills.
Interpersonal, analytical and problem- solving skills.

Salary: $1,190.10 per week + super
Position Status: Permanent Full Time
Hours of work: 35 hours per week with an RDO every third week
