Tweed Shire Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Unit Coordinator to lead our Strategic Planning and Urban Design team. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving integrated land use strategies and urban design initiatives that reflect community values and future needs.
About The Role
Lead and coordinate the Strategic Planning and Urban Design team in the review and development of policies and plans to ensure that there is an up-to-date, effective and efficient framework for strategic planning across Tweed Shire Council.To provide expert advice across the areas of strategic planning, urban design and heritage.Lead, develop and motivate a small team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and best practice managementAssist the Director of Planning and Regulation in achieving operational and strategic outcomes aligned with Council's Community Strategic Plan.Represent the Strategic Planning and Urban Design team within the organisation contributing to broader Council strategic direction and operational planning.Manage operational budgets, maintain financial accountability and ensure cost-effective service delivery.

We are seeking:
Degree qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or a related disciplineEligibility for Corporate Membership of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA)Demonstrated high-level competence in strategic land use planning, project management, urban design or place making and team leadershipStrong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement and presentations.

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
