Midwifery Nurse Unit Manager

A fantastic chance is available for a passionate and driven Registered Midwife to assume a significant leadership position as the Midwifery Unit Manager of the Birth Suite at a private hospital in Sydney. This position entails a 12-month fixed-term contract.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
As a Nursing Unit Manager, your responsibilities will include
Providing operational direction for Birth Suite to ensure efficient and effective management;
Coordinating the delivery of midwifery care that is evidence-based;
- Ensuring the delivery of excellent patient and family-centered care in a team-focused environment;
Providing guidance, mentoring, and support to your team;
Being accountable for the effective management of human, financial, and material resources;
Undertaking direct midwifery care, as required;
Ensuring compliance with ACQSHC National standards.
REQUIREMENTS
Current registration with APHRA;
At least 5 years of experience in Birth Suite;
Proven experience in building and leading high-performing teams with a service excellence approach;
Demonstrated ability to foster positive working relations with a wide range of diverse stakeholders;
Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management;
Understand the requirements of private health funding;
A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer-focused care;
A high degree of computer literacy, including MS Office and various databases;
Ability to work cohesively within a team environment;
Tertiary post-graduate qualifications in Midwifery (desirable);
A demonstrated understanding of Work, Health, and Safety legislation (desirable);
A demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality improvement, change management, models of care, evidence-based practice, and practice development (desirable).

ABOUT THE FACILITY
Situated in Southern Sydney, the hospital boasts 168 overnight beds. It is renowned for its expertise in cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, spinal surgery, endovascular surgery, interventional neuroradiology, general surgery, general medicine, liver surgery, orthopedics, maternity, and pediatrics. The facility additionally features a dedicated Day Surgery unit, a Coronary Care Unit, and an Intensive Care Unit.
The newly refurbished Maternity Unit comprises 6 Birth Suite rooms with 1 Assessment room. There are 26 spacious Postnatal suites, including 9 Special Care Nursery cots. The hospital offers a private obstetric model, working collaboratively with highly skilled midwives and nurses.
