**About the Role**

At Make-A-Wish the Volunteer team are going through an exciting period of transformation and change to build the capability of their volunteers to optimise their program across Australia by providing positive inspirational experiences. As a result, we have an amazing opportunity for an expert in volunteer management to join the team in Melbourne to partner with the business, build strong relationships and develop the necessary frameworks to promote a wholistic, consistent and impactful volunteer experience, whilst meeting our risk and compliance needs.

You will be responsible for identifying tailored strategies to assist in facilitating volunteer engagement within the organisation by building and managing the relationships within the branch leaders and Presidents of the regional volunteer branches across Australia, as well as advocating for volunteer needs and overseeing how regional branches are managed.

As a true 'people person' you will have a natural ability to be empathetic, to lead productive and respectful conversations but also be comfortable giving direction. Your strong communication and relationship building abilities will be paramount alongside your innovative outlook and strong influencing skills.

**Responsibilities of the Role**
- Actively build and nurture relationships with key volunteers across all regional branches
- Develop new and innovative volunteer leadership programme initiatives and support volunteer leaders to achieve the best results possible for the branch network
- Implementing frameworks to improve volunteer experiences and quality outcomes of their volunteer programs
- Understand growing trends in the volunteer sector and identify new opportunities for development in regional areas and bring them to life
- Act as an advocate for volunteers, communicating needs and challenges to the broader business and promote a volunteer culture at Make-A-Wish
- Working across the broader organisation and within the Volunteers Program to ensure wishes continue to be granted every day

**About You**
- Experience in volunteer management is essential
- Strong Stakeholder and Project management experience is essential
- Having worked in a similar role in the not-for-profit industry would be desirable
- Strong experience in Learning and Development/facilitation would be ideal
- Prior experience in customer/consumer service and support is highly preferred
- Experience using Salesforce would be advantageous
- Must be mature, reliable, resilient and not afraid to pick up the phone and have a conversation (even if it may be deemed a difficult conversation)
- A strong focus on upholding compliance and standards
