Partnering with a well-known and unique agency that works with a range of complex and highly sensitive health and safety matters. The team is seeking an APS5 WHS Officer and APS6 WHS Advisor who are ready to step into an exciting new career challenge.

**Your new role**

The team provides information, advice and guidance on WHS and legislative matters, while overseeing compliance, due diligence, and assurance activities, managing policy and procedures, and implementing program and initiatives to drive safety and wellbeing for the agency's workforce.

You will support safety programs in addition to creating and updating new ones within the agency. You will be committed to working collaboratively with staff and business areas, cultivating a safety risk management culture. The role will require you to take a hands-on approach and be an on the ground operator who enjoys working in a small collaborative team with the ability to work independently. Some of your responsibilities will include but are not limited to

**APS5 WHS Officer**
- Manage and coordinate safety related training and compliance for staff across agency
- Ability to understand WHS legislation, principles, better practice and certification requirements
- The ability to adapt to the Australian Public Service (APS) operating environment, procurement, and vendor management practices
- Handle all administration for the team and support senior members in the team with WHS projects and tasks

**APS6 WHS Advisor**
- Provide advice to managers and employees, promoting safe work practices across the agency
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders including regulators, inspectors, auditors, and other relevant authorities
- Evaluate and recommend training packages to support work health and safety
- Provide mentorship, training, and guidance, building capability in the team

Well-developed knowledge and experience of WHS matters legislation and systematic strategy management process
- Ability to exercise judgement and provide advice on a range of complex and sensitive health and safety matters
- Excellent written and verbal communication with great stakeholder management
- A relevant qualification in training and assessment, safety management, quality management and/or project management (APS5)
- Experience in a WHS position and understanding of relevant legislations (APS6)
- Relevant qualifications in WHS, minimum Cert IV (APS6)
