Overview
Our client, a well-established SaaS company in Melbourne, is seeking a skilledSystem Administratorto manage their Windows-based private cloud environment.
This is a hands-on technical role focused on maintaining, securing, and optimizing virtualized systems in a small but dynamic team.
The role emphasizes the stability, security, and performance of virtual machines hosted on a private cloud with a strong emphasis on compliance with government security standards.
Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Responsibilities
Administer and maintain Windows Server virtual machines
Apply security patches, updates, and system hardening measures
Monitor system performance, logs, and vulnerabilities
Perform vulnerability scanning and support incident response activities
Manage and troubleshoot SQL Server and IIS web servers
Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning
Maintain detailed system and security documentation
Coordinate compliance activities and security audits
Qualifications
Strong experience in Windows Server administration within a virtualized environment
Familiarity with or willingness to learn Australian Government security frameworks (e.g., ASD ISM)
Ability to obtain or currently hold Baseline (or higher) Commonwealth Government security clearance (Australian citizenship required)
Knowledge of vulnerability management and monitoring tools
Experience with SQL Server and IIS administration is desirable
Excellent documentation and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team
