**About the opportunity**

On 1 March 2018, NSW Government legislation came into effect that requires Councils in the Sydney metropolitan area to establish what was commonly known as an Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel (IHAP). Our Panel is now called the Blacktown Local Planning Panel and it generally meets once a month if required. We estimate that about 20 Development Applications' will be referred each year to the Panel for determination. The Panel requires substantial organisational support for it to run professionally and efficiently.

We are seeking a motivated Panel Administrator to join our Development Assessment section on a permanent, full-time basis. This position is responsible for managing and supporting the Blacktown Local Planning Panel, and also assisting the State Panel Secretariat with the Council aspects of the Sydney Central City Planning Panel under the direction of the Director City Planning and Development and Manager Development Assessment. This position also provides clerical support to the Town Planners within the Development Assessment section where possible.

As the Panel Administrator you will undertake all duties relating to the running of both Panels, however mostly the Blacktown Local Planning Panel meetings such as:

- Organising meetings and preparing agendas
- Preparing meeting timetables
- Attending panel meetings and briefing sessions
- Minute taking
- Recording panel meetings
- Contacting submitters
- Arranging guest speakers
- Any other administrative duties.

**Qualifications and experience**

**Essential**:

- Certificate III in Business Administration or relevant field.
- Suitable experience in a similar role
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills including using mail merge and templates
- Advanced Adobe skills
- Current class 'C' driver's licence.

**Desirable**:

- Relevant officer experience and good keyboard skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to deal efficiently with multiple tasks
- Data entry experience, high volume
- Customer service experience both face to face and over the phone
- Demonstrated time management and organisational skills
- Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines

**Remuneration and benefits**

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,361.20 per week
- 35-hour working week
