**YOUR OPPORTUNITY**

Due to exciting growth in the business, we are looking for an enthusiastic **Technical Product Specialist (Mechanical)** to join our product identification team based in **Canning Vale.** The purpose of this role is to increase our technical expertise across all areas our Mechanical & Metals Category including: Bearings; Fittings; Hose & Related; Packings; Pumps; Transmission; Valves and Metals.

Your key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

- Utilising your superior technical product knowledge and industry contacts, support Blackwoods Customer Care, Sales, and Category Management teams in delivering solutions for our customers.
- Providing Category, Supplier and Product matching activities in support of Blackwoods Bids & Tenders across our other Categories where required
- Act as the conduit between the Product Identification Team and Blackwoods National Category team, ensuring that our team and the product selections we propose, remain aligned to Blackwoods National Category Strategy and our Preferred Brand supply partners.
- Supporting gross profit improvement initiatives via providing product substitution or range rationalisation recommendations, or by assisting in negotiating cost price reductions or improved commercial terms with vendors

To be successful, you will have:

- Previous experience in a similar Technical Sourcing/Product Management role, preferably within a B2B/industrial wholesale or procurement Category Management environment
- Demonstrated experience in product identification, specification mapping, and quality assurance processes
- A strong drive to work collaboratively as part of a team
- A high attention to detail
- Mechanical Trade qualification or demonstrated experience in a B2B mechanical wholesale distribution business highly regarded
