This is a unique opportunity to lead the planning efforts on one of Australia's most significant renewable energy projects, contributing to decarbonisation and energy storage solutions.
About the Role: As the Lead Construction Planner, you will take a leadership role in developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules for the site erection, focusing on electrical, mechanical, and civil scopes.
You will collaborate closely with project management, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure the project stays on schedule and within scope.
You will oversee the creation and management of detailed construction schedules using Primavera P6, lead interface coordination, and provide strategic schedule guidance to ensure timely project delivery.
Your insights will be critical in identifying potential delays, proposing mitigation strategies, and maintaining high standards of schedule integrity.
Key Responsibilities:Lead the development, maintenance, and monitoring of comprehensive construction schedules in Primavera P6, covering all site activities from installation to commissioning.Oversee resource loading and progress tracking, ensuring alignment with project milestones, contractual commitments, and budgets.Coordinate with all internal and external stakeholders to align schedules and manage interfaces, risks, and dependencies.Provide leadership to site scheduling teams, guiding schedule updates, look-ahead planning, and proactive risk mitigation.Monitor and report on schedule performance, identifying deviations early and recommending recovery actions.Facilitate communication of schedule status, critical path, and interface risks to project leadership and stakeholders.Review subcontractor schedules, progress reports, and ensure alignment with overall project plans.Support schedule forecasting and contingency planning to maintain project timelines.Act as a strategic partner to construction teams, project managers, and stakeholders, fostering a schedule-focused culture.About You:Engineering degree in Civil or Mechanical disciplines; Project Management qualificationsMinimum of 10+ years' experience in senior planning or scheduling roles within large-scale hydropower, infrastructure, or energy projects.At least 5+ years as a Lead Scheduler in complex construction environments.Extensive experience with Primavera P6, Power BI, and SAP (preferred).
Strong technical knowledge of hydro-power equipment installation and commissioning is highly desirable.Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary planning teams.Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.Ability to proactively identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and work effectively under pressure.Project Details: The Hydropower Project is a pioneering pumped-hydro scheme that will deliver 2,000 MW of renewable energy, supporting Australia's transition to a low-carbon energy future.
This role will be instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of this landmark project.For all Australian based contract and temporary roles, please note the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading.
