Social Media Engagement Volunteer
We are looking for 2 new superstar engagement volunteers to join our team, to help moderate impactful conversations online with our supporters across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
Working alongside (and with guidance from) our Social Media Coordinator, this is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience working within the social media landscape through our large online community of over half a million people. You will gain valuable insights into the world of campaigning through one of Australia's leading environmental organisations, and make a positive contribution to the work that we do.
A strong understanding of social media and excellent written communications skills are required, and this role would suit a communications, digital media, journalism, or marketing student or recent graduate. Training and ongoing support will be provided. Ideally, you will have a genuine interest in the social media landscape, climate change and the environment, and are committed to spending 2-5 hours a week inspiring supporters to take action to protect our planet.
In return we will teach you the ropes using industry-standard social media software and strategy, give you valuable experience working within a global environmental organisation, and you'll be contributing to the biggest environmental issue of our lifetime.
**About the role**
Our Social Media Engagement Volunteers help deliver meaningful conversations with our online supporters, by replying to comments and answering genuine questions on behalf of GPAP, monitoring online activity and moderating any inappropriate content that does not align with our online set of house rules.
Key duties may include:
- Daily community management duties such as responding to comments, direct messages, tags, and educating misinformation relating to our active campaigns or organisational activities - with an initial focus on our Electrify campaign.
- Removal of any inappropriate hate speech and taking appropriate action against violations of our social media house rules, including disinformation, relating to our active campaigns or organisational activities.
- Educating our online audience on how they can help take action (eg. by making a donation or signing an online petition using current call-to-action).
- Participate in community outreach activities, by sourcing user-generated content, and giving GPAP an 'active voice' across relevant news updates and content that helps foster growth/collaboration opportunities.
- Help monitor content trends, and particular levels of engagement and/or interaction data and make any report backs to the Social Media Coordinator.
- Attending a monthly check-in meeting with our Social Media Coordinator.
