Expedition Leader Coordinator
**About World Challenge**
World Challenge has spent over 30 years empowering young people through experiential travel, offering them the chance to lead student expeditions across the globe. Through these journeys, students develop key life skills such as leadership, resilience, and self-belief. We collaborate with schools to create transformational travel experiences that foster personal growth and global citizenship.
World Challenge is part of Experience Education, one of the world's leading student travel groups.
**The Role**
At World Challenge, every expedition is shaped by the people who lead it and the support behind the scenes. As the **Expedition**Leader Coordinator**, you'll play a vital role in both — supporting our freelance Expedition Leaders and managing the logistics that enable teams to have safe, smooth, and impactful experiences.
From helping recruit and place exceptional Leaders to overseeing group expedition equipment and responding to challenges in real time — you'll be at the heart of ensuring every trip runs to the highest standard.
This role reports to the Head of Customer Experience and works closely with the global team, including the Leader Recruitment Manager and Safety & Compliance Manager in the UK.
**What You'll Be Doing**
**Leader Support & Placement**
- Help recruit outstanding freelance Expedition Leaders by organising and attending assessment and recruitment events.
- Collaborate with our global team to match Leaders to trips, ensuring they have the right skills and experience.
- Act as a key contact for Leaders — answering questions, offering guidance, and setting them up for success.
- Provide constructive feedback to Leaders post-trip or training, supporting their ongoing development.
- Work with Sales, Support, and Safety teams to ensure Leaders are fully prepared for their trips.
**Logistics & Equipment**
- Plan and organise expedition equipment — including medical kits, communications devices, and group equipment — ensuring every team has what they need.
- Coordinate with couriers to manage timely delivery and return of equipment before and after trips.
- Forecast equipment needs and contribute to procurement planning alongside our global operations team.
- Manage storage facilities, ensuring equipment is maintained, logged, and health and safety standards are met.
- Organise the logistics of pre-departure training events run by our Leaders when required.
**Other Responsibilities**
- Support our Operations Centre when needed — working as part of the wider Operations team to ensure smooth running of expeditions.
**Who We're Looking For**
We're looking for someone organised, proactive, and personable who is able to juggle multiple priorities while staying calm under pressure. You'll enjoy problem-solving, working with people, and making things happen behind the scenes.
**You'll Bring**:
- Strong organisational skills - able to manage complex logistics and competing priorities.
- A confident and engaging communication style, with strong emotional intelligence and relationship-building skills.
- A good understanding of what makes a great expedition leader and an exceptional customer experience.
- A keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to planning and record-keeping.
- Tenacity and motivation to hit targets and get things done — even under pressure or at short notice.
- Flexibility and adaptability — able to switch focus quickly and react to the dynamic nature of trips.
- A passion for travel, adventure, and student development.
- Willingness on occasion to work a shift pattern during peak departure periods, including weekends or non-standard hours.
**Experience**:
- Proven experience in recruitment, operations, or a similar coordination role.
- Experience supporting or working with freelance contractors or teams.
- Desirable — experience in outdoor education, adventure travel, or a related field.
- Desirable — experience working in a target-driven environment and providing feedback.
**Why Join Us?**
At World Challenge, we believe in the power of adventure to change lives. You'll be part of a passionate team that sets the standard in youth expeditions — creating experiences that build resilience, confidence, and global perspective in young people.
If you're driven, personable, and excited by the prospect of helping leaders thrive — we'd love to hear from you.
**Some of the benefits**

- Commission opportunity
