Network Design and Integration is a Group within the Department of Transport, and is responsible for delivery of transport priorities through the development, delivery and maintenance of an integrated pipeline of projects supporting the Major Transport Infrastructure Program, and to plan Victoria's rail network.
About the Role
The Coordinator-General, Rail is a senior leadership position accountable for the delivery of plans based on a robust understanding of the rail needs of Victoria, today and tomorrow. The position leads the delivery of plans to support the development of the rail network into the future, including rail strategies, configuration states, future timetables, and a range of artifacts that support the delivery of the Government's suite of rail projects across the passenger and freight networks.
POSITION OUTCOMES
- Delivered the Victorian Rail Plan based on robust demand forecasts, and the VRP's subordinate artifacts, including rail strategies, Configuration States, Sector Upgrade Plans, Discipline Plans (as defined in the rail document hierarchy).
- Ensured the delivery of inputs to MTIA to enable the delivery of the Big Build and other rail projects, through Network Integration Division.
- Provided key inputs to higher order planning artifacts as part of Victoria's Living Transport Network.
- Delivered timely advice to Government to inform its decision making around future investments needed for the rail network and options to maximise the investments in the existing network.
- Delivered a specification for the network's master timetable, with appropriate provision for freight, that is modelled and assured via the Integrated Modelling Group and agreed with accredited rail operators.
- Provided effective leadership, people management and support to their team. Staff are engaged with high levels of cohesion and commitment and are delivering on the services required.
- Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.

- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.

- Ordinary Hours of Work - some out of hours work will be required
