Who will you be working with? RMS Mors Smitt, a Wabtec Company is dedicated to the design, manufacture and distribution of high quality electrical engineering products. We design, manufacture and distribute electromechanical relays for the power distribution industry which generally comprise a circuit board controlling mechanical components. We export to 50+ countries around the world and sell locally. The operation fits into the light industrial sector and we mostly deal with small components, and have a mature supply base & mature product.

Where is the position located? This is an operational, hands-on role working as part of the Supply Chain team from Monday to Friday at our site office in Keysborough, Victoria.

General Logistics Support

The focus of the role will be to purchase inventory and factory consumables for the plant and some purchasing to satisfy direct customer orders for distributed products. The purpose of this role is not to purchase stock, but to stop the factory from running out of stock.

Supporting roles and responsibilities will focus on managing some of the tasks associated with purchasing, and developing and maintaining current skills related to other roles within the department for the purpose of contingency/backup.

We purchase both locally and overseas a wide variety of components including but not limited to: Engineered metal, Plastic mouldings, electronic components, circuit boards & sub-contract board loading, relays & surge protection devices, power transformers, solenoids, wire, cables, wire wound resistors, hardware, etc.

What will your typical day look like? We are a small team, and you will also be required to undertake some additional tasks to support the supply chain function.

Core Functions- Manage purchasing based on plant priorities via the tools provided- Expediting orders and following up order acknowledgements from suppliers- Work with sub-contract suppliers to coordinate the required consignment materials- Assisting with goods receipting into the ERP system- Updating order in-transit status into the ERP system- Updating the ERP system with current supplier details and pricing- Sourcing products via existing and new suppliers and providing comparative analysis- Raising production jobs to manufacture finished goods to maintain minimum stock- Arranging and managing some outbound shipping requirements on a weekly or semi-regular basis, e.g. one customer with regular shipping requirements; periodic change of customer based on region or customer specific requirements.- Reconciling Credit card payments- Administration for Incoming goods inspection- Gathering data and providing analysis for outsourcing projects

Supporting Functions- Arranging and managing some inbound freight requirements- Coordinating some inventory counts & adjustments related to purchasing decisions via departmental sign off process- Participating in Stocktake counts, including counting, re-counting and validating counts, analysis and data entry- Managing some supplier quality issues related to purchasing decisions via departmental sign off process- Backing up the Shipping Officer's role during times of absence- Cross-training in other functions as a back-up to cover potential absences, e.g. packing and some warehouse functions- Other tasks as required

What do we want to know about you?- Relevant qualification in Procurement and Supply Chain- Previous Purchasing experience. Experience with the types of products we purchase is desirable but not essential- Manufacturing experience is desirable along with an understanding of Bills of Material- Process focused- Previous experience using an ERP/ MRP system and good computer skills- Effective verbal and written communication skills plus interpersonal skills- Demonstrated initiative and sound organisational / time management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and ability to determine priorities, multi-task, work independently and meet deadlines.- Focused on continuous improvement- A "Shortage" mindset, i.e. a sense of urgency and ensuring
