Coast History & Heritage ('Coast') is a Sydney-based consultancy specialising in Aboriginal cultural heritage and historical archaeology and Aboriginal history research and interpretation. We work thoroughly and ethically to go beyond simple compliance, and also seek to promote heritage and history to broader audiences. Our range of services involves the delivery of Aboriginal and historical archaeological heritage consulting services to private and public sector clients, including advice, assessment, excavation and strategic planning.

We are looking for a passionate archaeologist with some Aboriginal archaeological excavation and consulting experience under their belt, to join our team.

Tasks & Responsibilities
- Assist in the research and delivery of archaeological assessments and reporting, including background research, field assessment, analysis, mapping and report writing.
- Assist with archaeological test and salvage excavations, including excavation, sieving, recording and finds cataloguing.
- Assist with Aboriginal community consultation for various projects.
- Assist with preparation of materials for project clients, including for client meetings.
- Complete administration required for various projects.
- Commit to the delivery of various projects and assigned tasks.
- Assist with general business archiving.
- Achieve project and task deadlines.
- Report task progress and issues regularly.
- Work productively with other Coast employees, Aboriginal community members and Coast associates to complete projects in a timely and professional manner.
- Compliance with relevant work practices, statutory requirements and quality standards as set by Coast.
- Enhance and promote the image and reputation of Coast within the profession, amongst our clients and throughout the community at large.
- Contribute ideas, suggestions and energy to the ongoing development of Coast.

Essential Skills and Experience
- Archaeology Honours degree or equivalent.
- At least one year's experience with Aboriginal heritage assessments as well as excavation.
- Willingness to deliver quality work with attention to detail, and be involved in activities beyond strict compliance heritage.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel).
- Construction industry 'white card'.

Desired Skills and Experience
- Specialist analysis expertise (e.g. stone artefact analysis, faunal analysis).
- GIS mapping skills.
- NSW driver's licence.

Salary and Conditions

Salary commensurate with experience. The position is full-time and based at our new office and gallery space (15/112 McEvoy Street, Alexandria), with most projects located in the Sydney region and surrounds. Some flexible work arrangements can be considered.
