The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from suppliers in accordance with company policies and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
They will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers for the procurement of goods, services and suppliesTakes responsibility for purchases in support of customer-related business processes or for internal useDiscusses defects and delivery problems with suppliers, and is responsible for negotiating refundsCoordinates with operations, maintenance, warehouse and engineering to ensure proper scheduling and movement of goods and supplies.
Under general supervision, solves complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practicesUses experience and problem-solving skills to develop and improve processesMay provide guidance to less experienced team membersReview and approve supplier invoices with KBR's Accounts Payable DepartmentProvide input to Supplier Performance EvaluationsRequired Education & Experience:This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related informationSkills required for this job are typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree and 5+ years of experienceShould have a thorough understanding of FAR, DFARS and NAICS; commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Government Prime Contractor purchasingMust be organized, detail oriented and demonstrate strong time management skills and be able to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects with general supervision in a fast-paced environmentHave excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to adapt to changing work efforts and manage shifting prioritiesMust be able to develop and maintain professional relationships with peers, suppliers, and customers, and contribute to a professional work environment by demonstrating integrity, teamwork, and a positive attitudeWorking knowledge of MS Office - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPointMust have problem-solving skills to develop and improve processesKnowledge of Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) proceduresSecurity RequirementsCandidates must possess or have the ability to obtain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance or an Australian TS/PV clearance.
A polygraph examination may be required as part of the US clearance process.
This is a contingent position based upon contract awardThis role will be located in Alice Springs, at a 4,400-acre facility with approximately 687,000 square feet of mission and support space.
This position is expected to be onsite 100%.
