Messaging Technician

Our Technical, Advisory, and Capability (TAC) practice and Team Downer (the prime Major Service Provider (MSP)) deliver above-the-line consulting services and Integrated Work Packages across the Department of Defence, leveraging innovative approaches such as mission and digital engineering to enable the successful delivery of critical Defence programs. This includes engagement with key areas across Defence including Defence Digital Group (DDG), Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), and the Navy, Army, and Air Force.

The position will undertake the **Messaging Technician**role functions, performing the following activities:

- Support the development, build and implementation of Messaging infrastructure to complex ICT systems.
- Complete and review all associated Messaging network documentation.
- Create and maintain Messaging network reference architectures to support solutions development.
- Provide Messaging network SME advice to the customer and internal and external stakeholders to facilitate project definition, system architecture and process improvement.
- Identify innovations and improvements to service that provide additional value to Messaging infrastructure.
- Analyse, log, track, and resolve complex issues pertaining to Messaging infrastructure.
- Create and peer review Standard Operating Procedure documentation (SOPs), build guides and related artefacts.

Required skills and experience:

- Experience working in Defence as a Messaging Technician.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and maintaining Messaging Infrastructure across distributed environments.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of: Exchange and AD administration; Message Transfer Agents; Microsoft Skype administration and XMPP chat tools.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with demonstrable experience of presentation and engagement with stakeholders, projects and business areas.

Desirable skills and experience
- Strong knowledge of governance frameworks in relation to infrastructure service and security delivery including required subsystems (i.e. Australia Information Security Manual (ISM)).
- Strong knowledge with ADF deployed environments/platforms and the unique networking, support and security constraints.
