Visiting Medical Officer – Voluntary Assisted Dying - Liverpool LGAAbout the jobThe VMO will provide care related to Voluntary Assisted Dying within SWSLHD Voluntary Assisted Dying Central Support Service (VAD-CSS) as a Coordinating, Consulting, and/or Administering Practitioner.Responsibilities include clinical management and treatment of patients in SWSLHD, within the clinical privileges granted by the Chief Executive, on the advice of the SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.
The role involves delivering high-quality, person-centred end-of-life care to patients seeking access to VAD, along with compassionate support to their families and carers.The VMO must ensure detailed patient treatment plans are in place, maintain high standards of clinical record documentation, and participate in service provision across other facilities if credentialed.
Collaboration with colleagues across SWSLHD, primary, and private healthcare settings is essential.The role requires compliance with the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Act (2022), relevant health policies, guidelines, and mandatory training.
Travel within SWSLHD to provide VAD services and support for private entities, Residential Aged Care Facilities, and Disability services may be required.The VMO must adhere to clinical governance policies, participate in peer reviews, M&M, and other professional development activities to maintain standards and accreditation.
Engagement in teaching, supervision of junior staff, and participation in performance management are also expected.The role involves conducting patient consultations across sites, including home visits within South Western Sydney, with travel remuneration.
Attendance at administrative meetings, adherence to the NSW Health Code of Conduct, and compliance with all relevant policies are mandatory.
