An exciting opportunity is available at our newly established pathology laboratory at Moree Hospital. We are looking for a part-time Blood Collector to provide pathology collection services to Moree Hospital and the local community. What You'll Be Doing
You will be working on a Monday to Friday basis at either the Frome St Collection Centre or the hospital-based Laboratory collections at Alice St, Moree. This laboratory is part of the largest public pathology service in Australia and one of 6 laboratories serving the New England and North-West NSW. You will be exposed to inpatient and outpatient settings and will be closely connected to an active pathology laboratory, enabling you to contribute to the health care of your local community.
What You'll Need
Certificate III in Pathology Collections and/or previous experience in venepuncture or demonstrated ability to learn all aspects of the clinical environment relevant to the Department.
Demonstrated customer service experience and strong communication with patients, carers and clinical staff.
Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve general issues within the clinical environment including specimen preparation and transport, ensuring viability of specimens.
Familiarity with pathology terminology and willingness to learn a broad scope of collection, data entry and specimen preparation practices including paediatric and neonate collections.
Unencumbered Class C Driver's License (valid in NSW) or the ability to travel to any site for a shift as required.
Willingness to participate in shift work including weekend work and travel to any site within the operational area as requested.
Ability to manage a demanding professional team environment with competing priorities and strict deadlines.
Proficient computer skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy.
