**The Opportunity**

An opportunity has arisen for multiple energetic and self-motivated people to assume the role of Social Planning Officer in an exciting and rapidly changing environment. Reporting to the Coordinator, you will be a key member of the Social Planning and Wellbeing team. The Social Planning Officer works across the organisation to create a healthy, accessible and inclusive community in one of Melbourne's fastest growing areas through their expertise in addressing the underlying drivers of health and social issues.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead or contribute to the development, implementation and review of evidence-based health and social policies, strategies, and plans.
- Lead and manage multi-disciplinary projects to deliver social and health outcomes for the community.
- Facilitate community and agency responses to social planning needs including opportunities for shared advocacy, policy responses and funding submissions.
- Respond to planning referrals to reduce harm relating to alcohol, other drugs, and gambling.
- Complete Gender Impact Assessments as per obligations under the Gender Equality Act 2020.

**About you**

**_ To be successful in this role you will have the following:_**
- Ability to think laterally and provide innovative methods to achieve beneficial outcomes for Council and the community based on sound judgement, research, evidence, and consultation.
- High level awareness and understanding of socio-economic and political context of issues impacting upon a growth area and the health and wellbeing of a diverse, growing community.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing initiatives, policy options and strategic community plans that best position Council to respond to identified needs.
- Experience with quantitative research and analysis, including knowledge of SPSS software, advanced use of excel, and the ability to communicate complex data sets to lay audiences.
