The opportunity We're looking for a Consultant with strong analytical skills, curiosity and a passion for evidence-based planning and policy.
This role offers the chance to work across a wide range of projects, contribute to shaping places and communities, and develop your expertise within a supportive and collaborative team.
You will be working in a multidisciplinary team primarily responsible for strategic land use planning and governance, local economic development and urban policy, as well as working collaboratively across all our teams as required.
This is a permanent full time role, ideally based in our Melbourne office.
What you'll do As a Consultant at SGS, you will: Plan and deliver projects to scope, budget and timelines.
Undertake research, analysis and synthesise to inform projects and highlight policy implications.
Translate technical findings into plain language and compelling visuals for diverse audiences.
Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, sharing knowledge and contributing to a positive team culture.
Use a range of professional tools and software to prepare reports, presentations and analysis.
A bit about you We're seeking someone who brings: 2–3 years' experience in consulting or the government sector.
Qualifications/background in urban planning, social policy, economics, geography or a related field.
Experience or interest in housing analysis (demand/supply, feasibility, precinct/regional planning).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex detail.
Data analysis capability: strong Excel skills, familiarity with ABS demographic data, programming (Python preferred).
GIS skills: QGIS experience highly regarded.
Visual presentation skills: Adobe Suite an advantage.
Stakeholder engagement and community consultation experience will be well regarded.
