
Domestic Violence Specialist Worker

**We are seeking a Domestic Violence Specialist Worker ('DV Specialist') for our Ashfield hub service, who is skilled in providing specialist support and collaborative case management to women and their child(ren) who are survivors of domestic violence.**
**The role is currently 12-months fixed term with the possibility of permanency.**
**THE ROLE**:
While the role is primarily crisis/safety planning, a case management/care coordination aspect will involve assisting clients in engaging with other services (e.g., refuges, counselling, court support) and participating in outreach and care coordination with other professionals offsite (vehicle access provided). The DV Specialist may also be required to attend relevant consortium partnership meetings and professional discipline meetings related to client service provision.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Undertake risk assessments, safety planning and provide assistance completing Domestic Violence Protection Orders.
- Engage in collaborative case planning, safety planning and support with clients, other CADA team members and team leaders, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Advocate and coordinate with relevant services to access. accommodation/housing, income security, financial counselling and supports, access to education and childcare for children, migration matters, legal matters, health concerns, mental health concerns and social isolation.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated care, including organising and/or participating in multidisciplinary care reviews and reflections
- Facilitate and complete referrals to other health, mental health and welfare support services where appropriate
- Maintain updated and appropriately standardised documentation, encompassing client case notes, reports, and various written communications. Facilitate seamless information handover as needed.
- Build relationships with other DV, mental health services, primary health services and other health and community, emergency, and justice related services service providers, and work collaboratively to ensure effective coordination and continuity of care for clients
- Participate in informal and formal case conferences, staff meetings and planned meetings.
**TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, YOU WILL HAVE**:
- Knowledge of health and other treatment services relevant to the client group
- Demonstrated experience providing trauma-informed care and counselling for persons with complex support needs
- Proficient in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques
- An ability to manage critical incidents, identify and act upon immediate risk of danger to self and others in both outreach and service-based capacities.
- Ability to work in a multi-skilled, high pressure, client focused environment with the ability to be agile, non-judgmental and empowering.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Well organised, self-motivated and proactive
