SmartBar is a subsidiary of the ARB Group, who design and manufacture aftermarket vehicle products, camping and 4X4 accessories that are distributed worldwide. All SmartBar products are manufactured on site in South Australia, using our state-of-the-art machinery.

Reporting to the Research & Development Manager SmartBar, located at our Lonsdale site approximately 30 minutes south of Adelaide, we are seeking an Industrial Designer to join our team. The position will require market research of design trends, materials, manufacturing methods, liaising with engineering staff, management, other departmental staff as well as external suppliers and customers. You will have responsibility for conducting product or process design or re design, and research and development in accordance with SmartBar Development implementation Procedure.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Develop Project Brief.
- Develop concept design in accordance with design criteria.
- Undertake research and development of concept including.
- Develop CAD model, prototype model and components.
- Complete CAD drawings.
- In consultation with the Research & Development Manager, prepare Product Proposal for presentation by the Research & Development Manager to Senior Management team for approval to proceed.
- Create guides for product installation.
- A tertiary qualification in Industrial Design or Product Design Engineering.
- Comprehension of and ability to produce complex surface models of high quality (Class A surface quality preferred).
- 4+ years hands-on, recent professional CAD modelling work experience.
- Knowledge of plastic materials and manufacturing processes. Rotational-moulding and sheet metal is desired, but not essential.
- Portfolio that demonstrates prior work.
- In-depth experience using Solidworks.
