**Oriental Merchant **is a leading importer and distributor of authentic Asian groceries, supplying supermarkets (Coles, Woolworths, independent grocery stores) with brands (such as ABC, Lee Kum Kee, Valcom, Yeo's) that are familiar throughout the Asia Pacific. We are proud of what we have achieved in growing Asian food categories in Australia where we have a presence nationally, as well in New Zealand, Europe, Canada, Japan and the UK.

We are looking for an Assistant to join our Procurement team who will focus on the Purchasing function throughout the entire process of inventory management.

**Responsibilities**:

- Place orders to the suppliers and manager and entire process until the goods arrive at the destinations with the right documents
- Verify the order information against the information from the original orders and the SAP system
- Verify the contents of the shipping documents to make sure they are in line with what has been ordered
- Willing to learn other working modules including stock planning and purchasing analysis
- Other duties as assigned by management

**What You Will Need to Succeed**:

- Tertiary education with a relevant degree for international supply chain, food technology and/or commerce preferred but not essential
- Fluency in spoken and written English. Bilingual of English and Chinese is an advantage.
- Strong numerical and administrative skills, including proficiency in Excel
- Self-motivated for excellence and improvement
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and with a sense of urgency
- Full Australian working rights

You will be provided with on-the-job training and work amongst a supportive and knowledgeable Procurement team, directed by the Chief Operating Officer. You will be exposed to other functions within the Procurement team which can include purchasing assistant and inventory management.
