Medical Laboratory Scientist

Position: Scientist/Technician (Molecular Pathology)Location: Bowen Hills, QLDEmployment Type: Full-time – Temporary 12-month contractStart times: Between 6:00am and 11:00am (includes rostered weekends and public holidays as required)What we are looking forSullivan Nicolaides Pathology now has an opportunity for a full-time Scientist to join their Molecular Pathology team located at their Bowen Hills laboratory.
The successful applicant will gain experience primarily in Molecular Microbiology techniques to be able to cover routine infectious diseases benches.We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Scientist to join our Molecular Pathology team.
Ideally, Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is looking for someone who:Holds a degree in a relevant scientific discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.Has previous experience in microbiology, molecular microbiology, or molecular genetics techniques (highly desirable).
Possesses good communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.Displays efficient time management and the ability to work independently or as part of a busy and motivated team.Shows a high level of commitment to laboratory turnaround times, customer service, accuracy in processing, and broader laboratory goals.Is available to work a rotating roster including early starts, weekends, and public holidays as required.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform a range of diagnostic medical laboratory techniques.
Perform all tasks relevant to a particular scientific shift or particular section of the laboratory as specified in departmental manualsUphold quality standards within the laboratory by adhering to departmental quality system procedures.Comply with the occupational health and safety policy and programs to ensure personal health and safety, and the health and safety of others in the workplace.Satisfy the requirements of customers both internal and external through the provision of reliable and efficient service levels.Train other staff as required.Maintain professional self-development through attendance at scientific meetings, reviewing scientific journals and preparing and delivering continuing education presentations at staff meetings.Performing special duties as required to contribute to the implementation of the strategic plan and to the effective functioning of a specific section, laboratory or organisation as a whole.About Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology (SNP)Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is a leading provider of diagnostic pathology services in Australia, renowned for our commitment to excellence in patient care and quality testing.
