Exciting Laboratory Scientist/Technician Role in Mycology

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Laboratory Scientist/Technician to join our dynamic team in the Mycology Section of the Microbiology Department at our Brisbane laboratory.

This is a full-time position, and the successful applicant will be expected to work shifts between 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday. When appropriately trained, the successful applicant may also be expected to participate in a rostered weekend work within the mycology department.

The ideal candidate will have appropriate qualifications in medical laboratory science (or equivalent) and sound theoretical knowledge of current mycology testing practices. They will also possess laboratory experience in a clinical mycology laboratory including microscopy and fungal culture reading.

The successful candidate will be required to uphold quality standards within the laboratory by adhering to departmental quality system procedures. They will also need to comply with occupational health and safety policies and programs to ensure personal health and safety and the health of others in the workplace.

Requirements:

  • Appropriate qualifications in medical laboratory science (or equivalent);
  • Sound theoretical knowledge of current mycology testing practices;
  • Laboratory experience in a clinical mycology laboratory including microscopy and fungal culture reading;
  • Interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills for effective teamwork;
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work methodically and efficiently;
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Provide excellence in customer service.
