**What you'll be doing**
Safeguards is a new dedicated child and adolescent mental health service designed to provide care to young people aged 0-17 years who are experiencing acute mental health distress. The Safeguards team is community-based and will provide rapid, mobile, intensive and flexible short-term support to help during a mental health crisis.
The Safeguards service will operate 7 days/week with extended hours on weekdays, and will respond to young people in their schools, homes and communities and in hospital-based settings (EDs/Wards), through face to face, phone and telehealth appointments.
The Safeguards Team Leader will provide expert clinical services, as well as clinical leadership and support to multidisciplinary Safeguards clinicians. The Safeguards Team Leader will be responsible for embedding effective clinical governance processes in the SNSWLHD Safeguards service.
**Selection Criteria**
- Tertiary qualifications, professional registration/membership as follows, plus significant clinical experience in child and youth mental health - see Essential Criteria one for additional information.
- Extensive experience as a clinician in providing assessment and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children and young people experiencing mental health problems, including acute care.
- Demonstrated experience in leading/managing a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved consumer care and outcomes.
- Demonstrated skills in partnership development and negotiation with a wide range of service providers and well-developed understanding of the interface between services.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
- Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes with other staff.
- Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers' license and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
