What does the job look like?

We are seeking a motivated and experienced PM Transport Allocator to join our high-performing Intermodal team in West Melbourne. Working the overnight shift, you will play a critical role in the efficient allocation, route planning, and dispatch of freight, ensuring customer expectations are consistently met, while maintaining a strong focus on safety and compliance.
- Plan, allocate, and dispatch freight efficiently to maximise fleet utilisation while ensuring compliance with fatigue management and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) regulations.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders, keeping all parties informed of ETAs, delays, and operational changes.
- Maintain accurate documentation including manifests, delivery schedules, and allocation records, supporting both operational accuracy and audit requirements.
- Monitor and support fleet service schedules, conduct regular yard checks, and ensure accurate handovers to the AM shift for seamless daily transitions.
- Uphold a strong safety culture, consistently meeting safety KPIs and compliance obligations through proactive inspections and run sheet audits.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying operational efficiencies, resolving issues in real time, and supporting customer satisfaction and cost-saving initiatives.

- Proven experience in transport allocation or dispatch, ideally within an intermodal or linehaul environment.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to remain calm and think clearly in high-pressure, fast-paced settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members, drivers, and customers.
- High level of computer proficiency, with the ability to quickly learn new systems (TMS experience highly regarded).
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with excellent time management during peak operational periods.
- Solid understanding of safety and compliance standards, including NHVR, fatigue management, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR).
