Job Description: Retail Nursery Worker

**Reports To**: Nursery Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking a friendly and motivated **Retail Nursery Worker** to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who loves plants, enjoys engaging with customers, and thrives in a fast-paced retail environment. You'll be the face of our nursery, assisting customers with plant selection, maintaining retail displays, and ensuring the nursery space is welcoming, tidy, and inspiring.

Key Responsibilities
- **Customer Service**:

- Greet and assist customers with plant selection, gardening advice, and product information.
- Provide tailored recommendations on plant care, soil, pots, and garden solutions.
- Process sales efficiently at the point of sale (POS) system.
- **Retail & Stock Management**:

- Merchandise plants, pots, and garden products to create attractive, shopable displays.
- Assist with stock rotation, unpacking deliveries, and restocking shelves.
- Maintain accurate pricing and product signage.
- **Nursery Care**:

- Water, prune, and maintain plant stock to keep products in optimal condition.
- Monitor plant health and report issues such as pests, disease, or damage.
- Assist with general nursery upkeep including cleaning, sweeping, and maintaining display areas.
- **Teamwork & Safety**:

- Work collaboratively with fellow team members to deliver excellent service.
- Follow safe work practices when handling plants, tools, and equipment.
- Support special events, workshops, or promotions when required.

Skills & Attributes
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- A genuine passion for plants, gardening, and outdoor living.
- Ability to work in a physically active role (lifting, bending, standing).
- Attention to detail in plant care and merchandising.
- Basic computer/POS knowledge preferred.

Qualifications & Experience
- Previous retail, hospitality, or nursery/garden experience desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge of horticulture, gardening, or willingness to learn on the job.

- Paid in line with the **Nursery Award 2020**, with applicable casual loadings.

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: From $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week
