This position plays a key role in the effective and efficient operation and maintenance
of civil infrastructure assets including but not limited to roads, footpaths, and
stormwater across the Blue Mountains LGA, to support the Transport and Public
Access Service.

This position leads, manages and motivates field-based employees and the
supervisors in the delivery of Council's planned proactive and reactive maintenance
activities and programs. This position is accountable for the effective and efficient
delivery of operational activities related to civil infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leading, motivating, and coordinating the team to ensure that all projects and

activities are undertaken in an efficient and cooperative manner by:

- Promoting a vibrant, enthusiastic, motivated, and productive team culture.
- Monitoring performance of all staff to ensure that staff related policies and

objectives are met.
- Ensure that work and training plans are developed and implemented.
- Mentoring, coaching, and developing staff so opportunities to succeed are

maximised.
- Effectively manage the day-to-day operation of west maintenance including the on
- ground demonstration of work methods and techniques for civil activities and
operations
- Coordination of the planning, prioritisation, and allocation of maintenance work to
ensure established service levels and performance indicators are met.
- Implement and monitor performance objectives for the various functional areas of
the maintenance activities, works and teams.
- Promote the principles of continuous improvement, best practice, and customer
service across the maintenance teams and activities.
- Coordinate and allocate staff resources to ensure efficient and cost-effective
delivery of services, programs, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure all works undertaken by the Operations teams are in accordance with
standards, regulations, and relevant codes of practice and in a timely manner.
- Promote safe and ethical working practices and ensure all worksites are in a safe
condition and that all employees are instructed on the safe execution of works and
use of plant and equipment.
- Scope works for maintenance works and programs through onsite inspections and
collaboration with maintenance work teams.
- Provide information/submissions for Part 5 approvals in relation to maintenance
activities, works and stockpiles.
- Provide input to develop and implement annual programs, schedules, plans and
budgets with the Transport and Public Access Leadership team.
- Respond to customer service requests by investigating complaints, liaising with
relevant people and stakeholders, and providing information on outcomes.
- Manage the delivery of scheduled maintenance programs and reactive works for
civil assets.
- Provide input into the development and review of maintenance related policies,
systems and procedures for operations, maintenance, and work activities.
- Review and update all work procedures as directed and report on system failures.
- Continually review and improve work methods where related to this position's work

activities for best practice in environmental, quality and WH&S.
- Respond to after-hours call out.
