Position: Game Development Officer
Employment Type: One Part-Time (0.5 FTE, with potential for additional hours) and Two Casual positions (hours by agreement, subject to program needs and availability)
Salary:
• Part-Time: $60,000 per annum (pro rata, based on 0.5 FTE)
• Casual: $40 per hour
Reports to: State Operations Manager – Northern Territory
Direct Reports: N/A
Term: Ongoing subject to the continuation of funding
Location: Darwin, Alice Springs and Remote

The Role:
Softball Northern Territory (in partnership with Softball Australia) is currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as:
- One Part-Time Game Development Officer (0.5 FTE, with potential for additional hours)
- Two Casual Game Development Officers
Based in Darwin, Alice Springs, and remote communities, these roles focus on delivering school clinics, entry-level participation programs, and supporting local events to grow the game of softball in the NT.
We are looking for individuals with a positive, can-do attitude who enjoy working with children and communities. If you're passionate about sport, recreation, teaching—or simply love helping young people get active—this is a fantastic opportunity.
No prior softball knowledge is required – we will train and accredit you
The role includes organising, promoting and developing junior community softball through liaison with Softball NT (and affiliated clubs and associations).
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver fun and engaging entry-level softball programs to students, mainly (but not limited to) in primary schools.
• Create pathways for school participants to transition into local clubs
• Assist with softball events/programs including Home Run Heroes programs, club & association events, NT Championships, School Events, Teacher PD sessions, and School Holiday Programs
• Actively work to increase the footprint of softball in the Territory community
• Uphold Softball Australia's values and commitment to child safety
What You'll Bring to the Role
Mandatory:
- Valid (or willing to obtain) Working with Children clearance (Northern Territory)
- Valid (or willing to obtain) Softball Community Coaching Accreditation
- Access to a car and a valid driver's licence to travel to schools or community centres with equipment
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to deliver engaging programs to young softballers of varying abilities
- Ability to remain organised and confident under varied situations
Desired:
- Valid First Aid & CPR Qualification
- Experience working with children and young people
- Coaching or sport development experience (any sport, not just softball)
- Creative thinking and ability to develop new ideas to engage participants

- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and disciplined
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and plan, prioritise, and organise to meet deadlines
