The Queensland Parliament's Committee Office is offering a fixed-term contract of up to three years for a dynamic individual to support parliamentary committees in shaping legislation, scrutinising public expenditure, and engaging with Queenslanders on issues that matter.

From youth justice and environmental law to transport and human rights, committees explore a wide range of public policy areas. Your work will help uphold democratic processes and ensure government accountability.

Your Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Support committee reviews of proposed legislation, ensuring compliance with legislative principles and human rights.

Assist in examining public accounts, works, and departmental performance for integrity and effectiveness.

Contribute to inquiries on portfolio-related matters or those referred by the Legislative Assembly.

Plan and coordinate hearings, consultations, and site visits.

Prepare briefings, reports, and stakeholder communications.

About You

You're a strategic thinker with a passion for public policy and democratic engagement. You enjoy working collaboratively but can also take initiative and deliver under pressure. Your writing is sharp, your research is thorough, and your communication style is clear and professional.

Your Key Strengths

A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, particularly law, is highly desirable.

Proven ability to research and analyse complex issues.

Exceptional writing and reporting skills.

Strong teamwork and independent work ethic.

Effective stakeholder communication.

High attention to detail and confidentiality awareness.

Knowledge of parliamentary processes (or the ability to learn quickly).
