The OpportunityThe Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Services Level 6 Senior Information Governance Officer, Information Management Section within the Digital Recording Services Branch.
This position provides an opportunity for the right person to have a significant impact on the further growth of information management maturity in DPS through the review and enhancement of the guidance provided through strong information governance.
The Senior Information Governance Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the department's information governance program. The information governance program ensures that the department's information assets are managed securely, are compliant with relevant legislation, and align with departmental, and whole-of-government policies, goals and objectives.
You will lead the review and submission of DPS records authorities, the creation of disposal schedules for Class C records in conjunction with the Parliamentary Library, assess DPS business systems using the National Archives' Business Systems Assessment Framework and complete tasks such as completing the initial draft of the annual Check-up survey to assist DPS in achieving the requirements of the Building Trust in the Public Record Policy.
The Senior Information Governance Officer is required to undertake complex work, and operate with limited direction, with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability. The role includes using initiative and judgment in the interpretation of policy and in applying practices and procedures. The Senior Information Governance Officer provides professional and policy advice in relation to complex problems and may assist in strategic planning, program and project management, and policy development. The Senior Information Governance Officer will be required to liaise with a range of stakeholders in a representational role.

Our ideal candidate will have:
Demonstrated experience in information management/information governance.
Experience in the use of an EDRMS such as Content Manager and in the use of Microsoft 365.
Demonstrated experience in the practical application of the Building Trust in the Public Record policy.
Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Highly effective communication skills (written and verbal).
Exceptional stakeholder engagement/management skills.
Ability to work in a dynamic and often rapidly changing environment.
Strong focus on collaboration and teamwork.
Job Specific Requirements:
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 6 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Contribute to the development, maintenance and regular review of information governance strategies, frameworks and policies relevant to DPS information Management to promote best practice and meet legislative and regulatory requirements.
Manage the review and ongoing currency of DPS records authorities.
Assist in managing the implementation of components of the National Archives of Australia's (NAA) Building Trust in the Public Record policy requirements.
Contribute to internal projects, such as the in-place records management project, supporting the capture, maintenance and preservation of information created within Microsoft 365 tools.
Provide secretariat support for information governance committees, including the Information and Data Governance Committee and the Metadata Working group.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, internal/external stakeholders, and service providers to ensure positive customer outcomes.

o relevant qualifications and/or significant experience in information governance
o demonstrated understanding of Commonwealth Government information management legislation and policy

Currently, the salary range for this position is $97,841 - $109,967 per annum.

Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
