Your next career opportunity:

As an Events Officer in the Museums and Collections Department at the University of Melbourne, you'll play a crucial role in delivering key events and managing third-party bookings across prestigious cultural venues including Potter Museum of Art, Buxton Contemporary, Science Gallery Melbourne, Grainger Museum, Old Quad and M Pavilion Parkville.

You'll have the opportunity to contribute to the University's cultural strategy, working collaboratively to enrich the social and intellectual life of students and communities. Your expertise will help strengthen the University's global cultural standing while ensuring its museums and collections remain integral to Melbourne's cultural fabric.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage Third-Party Bookings : Provide comprehensive event management services for external clients, from initial enquiries to post-event follow-ups, ensuring high-quality delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Plan and Deliver Key Events: Work with internal stakeholders to organise impactful events and activations across Museums & Collections venues, aligning with departmental strategic priorities.
  • Administer Booking Systems: Maintain accurate records and efficiently manage event and space bookings using specialized software, Elite.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Build strong relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders to advance strategic objectives and ensure smooth event operations.

You may be a great fit if:

You are an experienced events professional with excellent organisational and communication skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic cultural environment while delivering high-quality outcomes for diverse stakeholders.

You may also:

  • Have experience in the events industry, with the ability to lead casual teams and work methodically towards goals.
  • Have experience working within a museum or gallery environment or within a venue-based events/sales team.
  • Possess strong administrative skills, including maintaining office systems and managing client financials.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Have experience with booking and scheduling systems, particularly in a cultural or educational setting.
  • Be flexible and able to work out of hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
