Firbank Grammar School is seeking a knowledgeable Lead - Music Curriculum to be responsible for the implementation,
evolution and management of the curriculum programs in accordance with the aims
and objectives of the School and the Performing Arts mission and values.

The successful candidate will
work collaboratively with the Head of Music and the Director of Performing
Arts, for the development of the School's music program. If you are a proactive professional with excellent communication skills and similar experience, we encourage you to apply.

Position Details:This is a part-time, fixed-term role, available for the 2026 school year (27/01/ /11/2026). In Semester 1, this role has an FTE of 0.84, which will change to 0.76 in Semester 2 due to timetabling changes. This role is a new position at Firbank, and therefore, potential for extension will be determine towards the end of 2026. This position comprises of a Classroom Music teaching role and a Position of Responsibility (POR), which has a time release of 5 periods per cycle (two-week cycle).

Salary: $95k - $130k (full-time equivalent), dependent on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the design, delivery, and evaluation of the classroom Music curriculum across all campuses.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Performing Arts and Head of Music to set and implement short- and long-term academic goals for Music.
  • Ensure the Music curriculum is current and aligned with educational best practice and school policy.
  • Maintain high standards of teaching and learning through regular review, evaluation, and professional support of staff.
  • Foster curriculum continuity across key transition points, including Junior to Senior School and VCE pathways.
  • Monitor curriculum implementation, assessment, and reporting processes to meet school and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate enrichment and extension opportunities, including performances, workshops, and special projects.
  • Support differentiated learning by identifying and addressing the needs of individual students or groups.
  • Lead and mentor Music staff, promoting collaboration, professional development, and a culture of excellence.
  • Contribute to the recruitment, induction, and performance feedback of Music teaching staff.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and the school community regarding the philosophy and delivery of the Music program.
  • Contribute to the musical input of key school events and productions, fostering student engagement in performance opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • VIT
  • First Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis Certificates (or willingness to obtain).
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated music curriculum expertise
