The role
We are currently seeking applications from experienced Chemistry teachers to join our Science Faculty in January 2026.
Working in our new, state of the art Science building, the Duigan Centre, you will be responsible for using evidence-based teaching strategies to deliver a curriculum that engages and challenges each student in line with the School's effective learner model. In addition to this, there is also the potential for a Head of Chemistry leadership position to be offered.
To be successful in the role, you will be required to demonstrate:
- Experience teaching VCE Chemistry.
- Effective classroom management skills to maximise learning opportunities for students.
- A strong understanding of the principles of the science of learning.
- Experience in delivering a knowledge-based curriculum that encourages and supports innovation amongst the students.
- Experience using evidence-informed teaching strategies based on the work of prominent educational researchers including Barak Rosenshine, Doug Lemov, John Hattie and Jim Knight.
- Use of explicit instruction techniques and frequent formative assessment to check for student understanding.
- Knowledge of research findings relevant to student learning and education.
- A pursuit of continuous improvement and self-reflection as a teacher.
- A commitment to collaborate with colleagues in planning, implementing and reviewing curriculum through the design and editing of shared resources.
- The ability to establish and foster relationships with students, staff and parents.
- A willingness to be actively involved in the cultural, pastoral and co-curricular activities of the School.
