Growing Melbourne hospitality group, For The Love Hospitality, is seeking a dedicated Head Chef for weekday food and wine bar, Greta.

For the Love Hospitality is a progressive, professional and growing hospitality group, delivering approachable and welcoming dining experiences across three modern CBD venues: Greta, Elio's Place and Maverick.

Greta

Located in the impressive Olderfleet building, Greta is a European food and wine bar, serving a petite breakfast, lunch and dinner menu and aperitivo Monday to Friday with evening service from Wednesday to Friday. Our delicious food draws on European culinary influences and is always approachable.

About the role

We are seeking a creative, adaptable and hands-on Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and oversee all aspects of kitchen operations. The Head Chef will lead by example, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and maintain high professional standards across menu development, food preparation and food presentation, delivering high-quality and consistent dining experiences. Greta operates daytime Monday to Friday, with evening service Wednesday to Friday. Our Head Chef will be required to work a combination of days and nights.

Key responsibilities

• Leadership:Provide guidance, mentoring and direction to foster a collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, problem-solving and professional development.
• Menu design:Collaborate with leadership to design seasonal menus showcasing local ingredients and culinary trends.
• Operations: Supervise, train and develop kitchen staff, prepare rosters, and manage team performance; oversee food preparation and service to ensure quality and consistency in every dish; manage inventory levels to minimise waste and control costs; collaborate with leadership, including the Group directors, to achieve financial budgets and increase sales.
• Teamwork:work closely with all teams through a collaborative and professional approach to deliver memorable dining experiences and contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture.
• Compliance:Ensure compliance with food safety standards, occupational health and safety and industry best practices.

Skills & Experience

• At least 1 year proven experience as a Head Chef working across lunch and dinner service, with expertise in modern Australian and classic European cuisine and culinary techniques.
• Strong communication and leadership skills that motivate and inspire a high-performing kitchen team.
• A creative mindset, dedication to and passion for offering delicious and approachable food that considers contemporary trends.
• Ability to adapt, multitask, and prioritise while delivering consistent food and smooth service, working in collaboration with all teams, including front-of-house.
• Organisational & administrative expertise: proven experience managing inventory, meeting KPIs, managing food and labour budgets, preparing rosters, driving sales, and reporting to key stakeholders.
• Sound knowledge of food safety and occupational health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification;
• Valid Food Safety Supervisor certification.
