About The Opportunity

The senior occupational therapist role provides clinical governance, leadership and expertise within occupational therapy services including the provision of safe, timely, compassionate and high quality person-centred care to End of Life Care services across SWSLHD.
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, You Will
- Deliver advanced, person-centred clinical care to end-of-life clients and their families/carers, using extensive clinical expertise and evidence-based practice in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Apply expert decision-making skills to manage complex occupational therapy interventions and case management challenges.
- Coordinate with care providers across settings to ensure seamless, continuous care that meets client and carer needs.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of treatment protocols and standards to promote best practice.
- Provide clinical supervision, support, and competency assessment for junior therapists, allied health assistants, and students, following supervision policies.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain compliance with AHPRA guidelines, participating in regular supervision and networking across the health district.
- Lead or support quality improvement initiatives, including monitoring clinical outcomes, key performance indicators, and involvement in clinical research.
- Adhere to risk management, safety, infection control, and organisational policies including NSW Health Code of Conduct and SWSLHD frameworks

SWSLHD Primary & Community Health provides a comprehensive range of community-based services designed to improve and maintain the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across South Western Sydney.
These services include prevention, early intervention, assessment, acute and post-acute treatment, health maintenance, and continuing care. The team supports diverse populations, offering specialised programs for children, young people, older adults, and at-risk communities.
With over 800 dedicated staff, including Aboriginal Health Workers, nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals, the service ensures high-quality care close to where people live.

- Recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy or other qualification deemed appropriate by the employer, with registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated advanced clinical skills and significant experience in the provision of occupational therapy services for End of Life Care patients, carers/ families
- Demonstrated experience participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision, mentoring and development of junior staff and/or students.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
