What you would be doing

Reporting to the General Manager – Health System Improvement you will:

  • Lead and develop the Priority Populations team – supporting them to reach their full potential
  • Oversee operational functions such as the team's budget, procurement and project activities and human resources – recruitment and team performance
  • Guide your team in building enduring and productive relationships with specialised support services
  • Provide direction in identifying key health system improvement initiatives such as clinical decision support resources, consumer literacy resources and improved integration of health services
  • Add value to and contribute as part of the Health System Improvement management team and broader organisation management group
  • Represent Primary Health Tasmania at forums, working groups and key external meetings

Here's what you'll look like

You might have experience in a leadership role where you have proven success in strategic oversight of business area outcomes. Your background may be in the health services sector, social services, public health or social care policy.

These skills will also get you off to a great start:

  • Team leadership: Evidence of leadership skills including modelling and encouraging positive culture, facilitating high staff engagement and performance, operational functions such as human resources, ensuring systems are in place for efficient and effective work and managing a team budget
  • Strategic leadership: Ability to drive the translation of policy into practice, with evidence of experience in taking broad policy reform and improvement concepts into tangible actions that demonstrate improved outcomes in care quality
  • System knowledge: An understanding of the needs of priority population groups (or ability to obtain knowledge), including a focus on understanding different perspectives, such as consumer and carer experiences, specialist service sector, the primary care sector and broader health system – to inform the work undertaken by Primary Health Tasmania
  • You'll be a culture champion – understanding that every day, you play an important part of what makes Primary Health Tasmania a great place to work.
