If that sounds like you, Possum Magic is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic educator, to join our senior leadership team and contribute to delivery of a high quality, exciting and stimulating educational program, that will create a world of learning and play for our young children.

Supernumerary role for 3 days/week on a 3 month contract to begin with. Permanent work to follow for suitable candidate.

Responsibilities will be:

Curriculum and Pedagogy

  • Design and implement curriculum aligned with early learning frameworks (e.g., EYLF in Australia).
  • Support educators in planning and delivering developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Promote play-based learning and inquiry-driven approaches.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching strategies and learning outcomes.

2. Professional Development

  • Mentor and coach educators to improve teaching practices.
  • Facilitate ongoing training and reflective practice sessions.
  • Encourage collaboration and sharing of best practices among staff.

3. Leadership and Management

  • Lead with vision and purpose, fostering a positive learning culture.
  • Support change management and innovation in teaching and learning.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and quality frameworks.

4. Child-Centered Practice

  • Advocate for children's rights, safety and wellbeing.
  • Ensure inclusive practices that respect diversity and individual needs.
  • Use observation and documentation to inform planning and support each child's development.

5. Reflective Practice and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead reflective discussions to evaluate and improve practice.
  • Use data and evidence to inform decision-making.
  • Contribute to the service's Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
