At Weilan Construction we are a family-owned construction business, known for delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. Our team is hands on and dedicated to excellence, and as a result of our growth we are now looking for a Senior Accountant to join our finance team in a part time basis hours per week) supporting the owner in driving financial integrity and supporting operational success.

Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant will oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance functions. You will be a strategic partner to project managers and leadership, ensuring accurate cost tracking, project profitability analysis, and timely financial reporting

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage general ledger accounting and month-end/year-end closing processes, including managing the current accounts person
  • Prepare and analyse job cost reports and project budgets
  • Perform variance analysis between actual and estimated job costs
  • Track retention payments and progress claims
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and prepare statutory lodgements such as BAS, PAYG etc…
  • Manage cashflow payments and forecasting
  • Prepare financial statements, management reports, and ad hoc analysis
  • Assist with external accountants and regulatory reporting
  • Support ERP/accounting system improvements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience, with experience in the construction industry a bonus
  • Strong understanding of job costing and revenue recognition
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in financial analysis
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
