About the roleWe have an opportunity for a Communications Officer to be part of our Radio Operations Group, Technology & Communication Services Command. The Communications Officer primary role is responsible for tasking and coordinating activities if police vehicles responding to incidents. The role also processes urgent and non-urgent telephone calls providing timely information to operational police to enable appropriate action to be taken.

Target Question 1: Can you share an instance where you showed resilience and courage while handling a challenging customer situation? Target Question 2: Can you describe an occasion when you had to juggle several tasks with varying levels of importance, how did you determine your priorities, and what was the outcome?Your application must stand on its own merits, and the completeness and relevance of your application will determine if you proceed through to the selection process.
All applicants who are short-listed from the application stage will be required to undergo a computer test including typing speed (a minimum of 35 words per minutes), data entry, cognitive reasoning and reading comprehension.
Applicants who meet the required standard will then proceed to an assessment centre where short-term memory, multi-tasking, decision making, resilience and problem solving will be assessed. Only applicants who rank highest in this process will proceed to the interview stage.
Initial entry requires undertaking the paid Training Program. This is a fifteen week full-time course, which will be run at Penrith Radio Operations Centre. All trainees must successfully complete this Training Program and probation period to retain their appointment.
This role is classified as a shift worker in accordance with clause 3.58 of the Crown Employees (NSW Police Force Administrative Officer and Temporary Employees) Award 2009. Shift penalties are paid in accordance with clause 89.1 of the Award.

Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a rigorous National Police (criminal history) Check and obtain and maintain a Security Clearance as determined by the NSW Police Force.
