Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Café Head Chef to join our team on a part-time or full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have at least 1–2 years' proven experience in a café or brunch kitchen, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This role requires creativity, consistency, and teamwork, with the responsibility to design and refresh menus seasonally to keep our offering innovative and exciting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook café and brunch menu items to a consistently high standard.
  • Design, create, and refresh menus seasonally, contributing new dish ideas and specials.
  • Manage food prep, portioning, and presentation to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment in line with food safety standards.
  • Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and minimise wastage.
  • Work collaboratively with FOH and BOH teams to ensure smooth service.
  • Support in training and guiding junior kitchen staff when required.
  • Adhere to all OH&S and food safety compliance requirements.

Skills & Requirements

  • Minimum 1–2 years' experience as a chef in a café, brunch, or casual dining setting.
  • Strong cooking skills across breakfast, brunch, and light lunch dishes.
  • Proven ability to design and implement new menus and refresh menus seasonally.
  • Ability to work independently and manage kitchen operations during service.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (Food Safety Certificate preferred).
  • Flexible availability – weekends and mornings required.
  • Team player with a positive and professional attitude.

Position Type: Part-time or Full-time available

Pay: From $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 26 – 36 per week
