Production Line Setter

As we continue to grow in the FMCG industry, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Production Line Setter / Machine Operator to join our team and play a key role in ensuring our production lines run efficiently, safely, and at the highest quality.

About the Role

The Production Line Setter / Machine Operator is a high level role within our operations team, responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of our production and packaging lines.

You'll ensure machines are calibrated correctly, troubleshoot issues quickly, monitor quality, and keep detailed production records. This role also provides the opportunity to mentor others and support continuous improvement across our manufacturing operations.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced FMCG environment that requires technical know-how, attention to detail, and a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Setup and Calibration

• Perform equipment setup and changeovers in line with product specifications and schedules.
• Calibrate tooling and adjust machine settings for consistent performance.
• Establish and maintain centreline settings to ensure efficiency.
• Report and escalate equipment issues for timely resolution.

Operational Support and Troubleshooting

• Operate filling and packing machinery safely and efficiently.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production line issues; escalate recurring problems to maintenance.
• Assist with basic servicing and preventative maintenance tasks.

Quality Monitoring and Documentation

• Conduct in-process quality checks throughout production runs.
• Maintain accurate records of output, changeovers, downtime, and deviations.
• Provide data and observations to support quality investigations.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and SOPs accurately.
• Work closely with production, QA, and engineering teams for smooth operations.
• Support training and mentoring of new operators.
• Contribute ideas for process improvements to boost efficiency and reduce waste.

Compliance and Safety

• Follow GMP and company safety protocols at all times.
• Perform safety checks and report hazards or incidents immediately.
• Participate in training and uphold a safe workplace environment.

About You

• Vocational training in mechanical/process operation preferred
• Minimum 2 years' experience in manufacturing or FMCG production.
• Experience in machine setup, troubleshooting, and changeovers.
• Understanding of GMP, quality systems, and safety principles.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
• Good physical stamina (able to lift up to 15 kg and work on foot for long periods).
• Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Production Output – Units produced per shift/hour.
• Quality Yield – Percentage of units meeting standards.
• Line Uptime – Time production line operates without stoppages.
• Setup Time – Speed and efficiency of machine setup/changeovers.
• Scrap Rate – Reduction of material or product lost due to inefficiencies.
