Carlton Victoria Australia Common Equity Housing Limited Full time $100,000 - $120,000 per year

Common Equity Housing Ltd (CEHL) provides long-term secure housing to people with low-income backgrounds who may find full market rent unaffordable. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Manager Housing and Tenancy to join our team on a 10-month, fixed term contract basis.

ABOUT US

Common Equity Housing Ltd (CEHL) is Australia's largest cooperative housing provider. We manage a portfolio of more than 2,000 housing properties through Victoria and partner with over 90 housing co-ops to provide safe, secure and affordable housing to 5,000 co-op members, renters and the broader community. CEHL actively promotes the vital role co-operative models can play in changing people's lives and as an ongoing solution to Victoria's current housing affordability crisis.

Our modern office is based in Carlton, just a few metres walk to the cafes of Lygon Street and nearby parks. We offer a range of benefits including generous salary packaging arrangements, meals and entertainment allowance, six additional days of paid leave over the Christmas closure period, 17.5% annual leave loading and access to our Employee Assistance Program.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will be responsible for effectively managing CEHL's tenant housing services. Key accountabilities include monitoring budgets, maintaining a high standard of service, fostering positive relationships with renters, proactively managing the rental portfolio and ensuring compliance with relevant standards.

As a key member of the Co-op & Housing Services leadership team, this role offers the opportunity to combine strategic thinking, operational excellence, and social impact. Reporting to the Executive Director, Co-op & Housing Services, you will lead a high-performing team to deliver responsive, sustainable, compliant and people-focused housing and tenancy services across the CEHL portfolio.

ABOUT YOU

This position is ideal for a dynamic, forward-thinking property management professional who thrives on improving systems, leading teams through change, and ensuring compliance and quality in a values-driven organisation.

You will demonstrate the ability to lead and develop the Housing and Tenancy teams to deliver responsive, high-quality housing and end to end tenancy services, and your business improvement mindset will drive strategies that improve operational efficiency and service delivery quality that enhance value for renters, member co-ops, CEHL, and other stakeholders.

You are a strategic thinker with a passion for business improvement and service innovation, with an ability to evaluate existing work practices and procedures and identify, develop and implement improvements.

You will also have:

  • a minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in property management
  • at least three years' experience managing and developing teams
  • an ability to understand, interpret and apply relevant legislation and regulations, including Residential Tenancy Act, VCAT processes and Registered Housing Association Performance Standards
  • a genuine interest in CEHL and working with membership-based organisations.

To foster cross-team collaboration and engagement, you will be willing and able to work on-site at least four days per week.

If this sounds like you, and you're looking to join a purpose driven organisation dedicated to providing long-term secure housing to people with low-income backgrounds, please apply now with your CV and a Cover Letter outlining you interest in the role and why you would like to join our team. Please note that shortlisting will commence as applications are received.

All applicants must have the right to work in Australia and will be required to undertake a Police Check. A Working with Children Check is also a requirement of this role.

CEHL is an Equal Opportunity Employer and supports accessible working arrangements for all. People with a disability, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island people, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
