We are seeking a strategic, people-focussed HR leader who will shape and champion AFMA's culture, wellbeing, and inclusion agenda. You will bring deep expertise in stakeholder engagement and organisational development, with a strong commitment to building a safe and inclusive workplace.
About the team
The People Services Section provides integrated corporate services that enable AFMA to deliver on its strategic and operational workforce priorities. The section brings together key enabling functions of human resources; internal and external communications; and property and security – working closely with the senior executive, managers and external providers to deliver high-quality, future-focussed services that support a responsive, inclusive and well-governed workplace.
The position
We are seeking a strategic HR professional who will lead AFMA's culture and wellbeing agenda with vision, influence, and integrity. You will be a trusted advisor to senior leaders, shaping workforce strategies that support organisational performance, inclusion, and employee experience.
You will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategic HR programs that enhance employee engagement, wellbeing, and workplace culture. This position provides high-level advice, oversight, and coordination of initiatives that foster a safe, inclusive, and high-performing workplace.

- Demonstrates strategic leadership in delivering responsive, high-quality HR services that support organisational performance and employee wellbeing.
- Oversees governance and quality assurance in HR documentation and reporting, ensuring compliance and strategic alignment.
- Leads multiple HR programs and priorities, managing complexity and delivering outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Communicates with influence and professionalism across all levels of the organisation and external stakeholders.
- Applies high-level judgement and risk management to resolve complex HR matters and workforce challenges.
- Anticipates and responds to changing priorities, systems, and legislative frameworks in a dynamic HR environment.
- Builds collaborative partnerships across HR, corporate services, and operational teams to deliver integrated workforce solutions.
- Leverages workforce data, trends, and analytics to inform strategy and support organisational development.
- Handles sensitive information with discretion, empathy, and professionalism, upholding the highest ethical standards.
