The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated detail-oriented Credit Analyst to join our team in assessing the creditworthiness of individuals and businesses applying for loans or credit facilities. This role is critical in helping our organisation make informed lending decisions, manage risk effectively, and maintain a healthy loan portfolio. The successful candidate will analyse complex financial data, conduct comprehensive risk assessments, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Operations

  • Analyse loan applications, financial statements, and credit reports to assess creditworthiness through income verification, debt-to-income ratios, employment stability, and financial evaluation
  • Structure applications per industry standards, funder requirements, company guidelines, LMI criteria, and regulations
  • Verify applicant information accuracy and validate financial documentation
  • Identify lending risks and recommend mitigation strategies to minimise default exposure
  • Provide evidence-based loan approval or rejection recommendations
  • Process loan variations and increases from assessment through settlement
  • Request property valuations and evaluate security risks
  • Coordinate with valuers, funders, solicitors, and insurers for timely processing and query resolution
  • Ensure lending decisions comply with organisational policies, regulations, and industry practices
  • Maintain accurate records and update stakeholders on application status

General Administration

  • Prepare and dispatch loan program correspondence
  • Develop documentation including manuals, procedures, and agreements
  • Maintain data integrity across Loan Origination database and systems for effective monitoring
  • Support special projects and additional duties

Relationship Management

  • Build professional relationships with external parties, originators, and service providers
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings
  • Collaborate with Loanworks staff to clarify processes and resolve issues
  • Communicate policy changes to external stakeholders including originators, solicitors, insurers, and service providers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years proven experience as a Credit Analyst, or in a similar financial analysis role
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis and risk assessment methodologies
  • Comprehensive understanding of credit regulations, lending practices, and industry standards
  • Current knowledge of legislative requirements including:

  • Corporations Act

  • National Consumer Credit Protection Act (NCCP)
  • Personal Property Securities Act (PPSA)
  • Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF)
  • Privacy Act

  • Advanced analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately

  • Proficiency in financial analysis tools, spreadsheets, and relevant software applications
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing detailed credit assessment reports
  • Strong stakeholder management abilities for effective interaction with borrowers, colleagues, and external parties
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills
  • High ethical standards with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
