We are a mixed-method and ethnographic research program designed to better understand the financial behaviours and needs of young adult Australians. 

Originally inspired by the U.S. Financial Diaries, the program works with a panel comprising dozens of participants across several Australian cities and regional centres, over months or years. A small research team collects demographic, financial and observational data. These data sets are synthesised to develop impactful insights and reporting, which are then used by senior industry stakeholders to inform customer strategies, industry policies and staff training. 

This will be a 12-month secondment or fixed-term opportunity.

We are currently seeking a Strategy & Operations Lead accountable for the end-to-end delivery of the program, including leading the planning, execution and closure of multi-phase research initiatives.  

The successful candidate will have people management responsibilities and work closely with the Research Lead, field researchers, operational and risk teams, and business stakeholders across the Group. This role is responsible for leading program planning, stakeholder and partnership engagement, budget and risk oversight and delivery co-ordination, while ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, can translate strategy into action, and is skilled at implementing and enabling strategic initiatives. They not only navigate ambiguity, but excel in it, and drive clarity for others. They have exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and an entrepreneurial mindset allowing them to identify opportunities to collaborate with stakeholders and develop partnerships. They communicate with clarity and intent and foster a collaborative style that drives alignment and shared success.  

We want to hear from people who have:  

• Proven experience leading strategic and operational delivery for complex programs 

• Demonstrated ability to manage program budgets, risk frameworks, and delivery planning (familiarity with Jira is preferred) 

• Strong stakeholder engagement experience including liaising across senior leaders, business units, leading socialisation activities and workshops 

• People management experience, leading high-performing multi-disciplinary teams and cultivating a culture of curiosity and continuous learning 

• Experience developing and presenting executive governance reports to senior leaders 

• Ability to translate strategy into action. Skilled at navigating ambiguity and driving clarity, with a track record of thriving in dynamic program settings 

• Comfort working in fast-paced environments with competing priorities and shifting timelines 

• Experience in behavioural science, customer insights, field research, ethnography is highly regarded
