The Role – Systems Engineer

As a Systems Engineer at Series Consulting, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality technical support, infrastructure management, and proactive system maintenance for our diverse client base. Serving as a Level 3 escalation point, you will be responsible for resolving complex technical issues while contributing to the stability, security, and performance of client environments.

This role involves regular client interaction—both remotely and in person. You will be expected to attend client sites as needed for escalations, project deployments, system audits, and high-impact troubleshooting, making strong communication and presentation skills essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Tier 3 escalation point for technical issues, resolving complex support tickets with accuracy and professionalism
  • Provide both remote and onsite support to clients, including regular client site visits for escalations, project work, and relationship management
  • Manage and resolve service requests via a ticketing-based CRM system, ensuring timely updates and SLA compliance
  • Deliver expert-level troubleshooting and advisory services across a broad range of technologies
  • Liaise with third-party vendors and service providers on behalf of clients to resolve escalated technical issues
  • Maintain and enhance internal documentation, client environment records, and process knowledge
  • Collaborate with Senior Engineers, Subject Matter Experts, and Technical Leads on escalations and infrastructure projects
  • Actively engage with other technical teams within the business to ensure seamless support delivery

Core Technical Competencies

  • Ability to troubleshoot and restore services related to Active Directory, server infrastructure, cloud platforms, and networking
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server (various versions), DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Exchange, and Office 365
  • Experience building and managing Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including MDM and Intune
  • Skilled in Directory Sync, Azure AD, and user account lifecycle management
  • Solid foundation in networking principles: IP troubleshooting, subnetting, routing, firewall diagnostics, and port bridging
  • Proficiency in backup and disaster recovery tools and strategies (e.g., Datto, Veeam)
  • Hands-on experience with Apple iOS and Android device configuration
  • Competence in system patching, monitoring, and infrastructure maintenance
  • Exposure to IP Telephony systems and configuration

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar Systems Engineering or Level 2 Support role within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment
  • Strong client-facing communication skills and experience delivering onsite support
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Azure, CompTIA, Cisco, ITIL)
  • Practical knowledge of ITIL principles and service delivery aligned with SLAs
  • Experience with ticketing and PSA tools such as Autotask, ConnectWise, or similar
