About the role:
The Senior Rail Track Engineer will focus on overseeing and carrying out design, engineering, estimation of upcoming work and the creation of manufacturing instructions and has major responsibilities in:
- Directly overseeing the activities of work teams in the Engineering group
- Design and innovation components for heavy haul and conventional market that establishes leadership in the marketplace and grow our business
- The Engineering, detailing and continuous improvement of standardised designs and associated work instructions for all current products in our range
- Project Manage of specific Projects from Enquiry to Delivery
- Liaise with customers to problem solve, investigate and advise the most effective solutions to their specific track issues
Job tasks and responsibilities:
- Improve internal systems for planning and executing work, standardising and continuous improvement of work packages, part numbers, drawings and filings.
- Assist Customer's Specifications and liaison with manufacturing personnel to create the lowest cost manufactured product that meets the customer's needs.
- Leading the use and training of internal personnel in 3D drafting and FEA modelling for all product development and innovation opportunities
- Manage Australian projects from receipt of the customer enquiry to the final supply of product which includes scope, estimation, submission of proposals, documentation, progress reporting, site installation and signoff of final quality requirements.
- Improve the accuracy of Estimates and component BOMs and Routes
- Ability to carry out all design and detailing of work packages as required by the production program.
- Actively promote conventional and product leading technical designs through site visits and direct to specifiers
- Observe and apply all relevant rules, regulations and instructions including complying with policies and instructions.
- Model WHS&E requirements to site personnel and comply with the rail Safety National Law Act 2012 as regulated by the office national rail safety regulator.
About you:
- Bachelor of Engineering or Equivalent
- Track experience covering design and or construction of a minimum of 10 years
- Minimum 3 years' experience in 3D drafting and FEA modelling
- Deep knowledge of methods used to reduce cost and improve efficiencies in maintenance and service operations
- Continuous improvement attitude and focus with demonstrated achievement
- Must have intimate up to date knowledge of the rail market and key specifiers
- Self-directed professional who plans, prepares and executes
- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders (internal & external)
- Effective Communicator
- Has the ability to lead but also to be part of the team
- Possess good ethical behaviour
